Yasiel Puig

Yasiel Puig, Ryan Braun
Last week the Los Angeles Dodgers almost traded right-fielder Yasiel Puig to the Milwaukee Brewers for left-fielder Ryan Braun. While the trade did not work out mainly due to time constraints, it is something that should be revisited in the offseason. FanRag Sport Network’s Jon Heyman was first to report that Puig had been claimed by, what was at the time an unknown team. That team was then identified by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports as the Brewers. Once a player is claimed off of waivers the two teams then have 48 hours to negotiate a trade. Unfortunately for the Brewers and […]

chapman, domestic violence
Chapman will not appeal suspension for domestic violence allegations The Los Angeles Dodgers were on the verge of acquiring Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman when a two-month-old story broke. How it had been kept quiet that long is really unfathomable in these days of social media and constant communication.  Apparently in October 2015 Chapman allegedly choked his girlfriend and fired off eight gun shots in his Florida home. No charges were brought against Chapman for the incident. Yet the incident was still considered serious by Commissioner Rob Manfred, especially under MLB’s new domestic violence policy as well as the increase […]

Nationals 1
The Washington Nationals’ star outfielder Bryce Harper is going to miss a game for the first time this season. He has been scratched from Saturday’s lineup due to a sore back. Friday night Harper was hit in the back by a 93 mph fastball by Reds’ pitcher Tony Cingrani during the seventh inning. Oddly enough it was the Reds that were upset with Harper after the incident. Cingrani was upset because Harper, who had just been hit in the back with a fastball, took too long to make his way to first base. Cingrani on Harper HBP: “He should have […]

Nationals: Harper scratched from lineup, Strasburg to the DL

I’m not the biggest Yasiel Puig fan but you can’t help admire his talent. I remember a couple years ago I wrote a piece for Sports Unbiased where Puig’s rookie card was sold for some absurd amount of money. If I’d been the person that bought it I’d have been slightly nervous during the last couple of years. Puig has been labled “immature” almost to the point of being a “problem player” even though he’s displayed talent on the field. There have been discipline problems for his actions on and off the field. However, this year the 24-year-old Cuban reported to […]

Nationals
During the fifth inning of Thursday’s game Los Angeles Dodgers star right fielder Yasiel Puig and second baseman Howie Kendrick were both chasing down a fly ball hit by Los Angeles Angeles’ right fielder Mike Trout when they collided. It appeared that Kendrick’s left elbow struck Puig directly in the throat, leaving Puig lying on the ground for quite some time until the trainers came out onto the field. Here take a look at the collision: Your browser does not support iframes. The ball dropped for a triple for Trout, but first baseman Adrian Gonzalez fielded the ball, getting it […]

Alright, I know that it’s only five days in jail that Washington Nationals’ outfielder Jayson Werth has to do. That’s not a whole lot. He’ll be ok. Heck for all I know he’ll be in protective custody because he’s a celebrity of sorts. Yes, I know he’s not a even a baseball celebrity like Derek Jeter but he’s a well known personality if you want to strip it down to the lowest point but Jayson Werth is more than that. So why does he have to do jail time when Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Yasiel Puig got caught doing the same […]

Baseball Hot Corner continues it’s feature of looking at the top ten players at each position and it’s my turn to bring you my list of the top right fielders in the game today. Most of this list will be based strictly on the player’s 2014 statistics. I am not excluding players who had a rough 2014 due to injuries, which is why some of their 2013 finishes and prior accomplishments may come into play. I used a similar stance with rookies who hadn’t played many games but showed immense potential. Another difficult part in ranking right fielders is that […]

Everyone knows about Yasiel Puig, everything from his ties to the drug cartel he apparently owes money to for being brought over to the US from Cuba to his crazy plays in the outfield and hard hitting bat. The one thing Puig is most famous for?? His bat flip. He flips his bat when he hits a home run or at least so I thought until I saw this video. Now I have no real issue with Puig’s showy behavior – it’s not like he is going all Manny Machado on people. Going all “Manny Machado” and acting like a […]
