Terry Collins

Yoenis Cespedes says he wants to return to Oakland Athletics
Unless you live under a rock or hate baseball in general (in which case I wonder what you are doing here?) you’ve heard about this by now, Yoenis Cespedes would like to return to the Oakland Athletics.  “I love Oakland all the time.” – Yoenis Cespedes Yes, Cespedes said that in a rare interview granted to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The reason the interview can be considered rare is because it was done completely in English without a translator, which is very unusual for the New York Mets’ Cuban star. I did say the Mets’ star. Yep. […]

The New York Mets announced Wednesday that they had agreed with manager Terry Collins on a two-year contract extension that is reportedly worth $3 million. Collins did manage the Mets to a 90-72 regular-season record and an National League East title. He took them through the postseason and to the World Series that ended in a five-game loss to the Kansas City Royals; it was the Mets’ first NL Pennant in 15 years. It would seem that extending Collins’ contract would be the prudent thing to do. However, there are questions and circumstances surrounding Collins that would make some question why the […]

Why are the Mets extending Collins’ contract?

royals
As I KNOW you’ve already heard the Kansas City Royals are your new World Champions (thank goodness! Even though I wasn’t rooting for them at least it isn’t the gnats anymore! whew! – actually that is part of the reason I wasn’t rooting for them. Couldn’t they have done this last year?? Thanks a lot Royals!). Naw, regardless Congrats to the new World Champion Royals. I am not going to go through the game play-by-play, but I’ll lay it out for you.  The New York Mets held a 1-0 lead through six innings on a lead off home run by […]

Royals are your 2015 World Champions

Dillon Gee
Dillon Gee frustrated by Mets’ move New York Mets’ manager Terry Collins apologized to Dillon Gee for the news he was about to give him. Gee, one of the Mets’ longest tenured players was being demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen. The Mets were going to try and use a six-man rotation that included Gee, to shave off the number of innings pitcher like Matt Harvey, who is coming off of Tommy John surgery, and Jacob deGrom, who is just in his sophomore season, would pitch over the course of the season.  Why they changed their minds is […]

Dillon Gee sent to the bullpen, Mets go back to ...

The New York Mets had another pitcher go down on Monday. First it was reliever Josh Edgin and then it was starter Zack Wheeler, both to Tommy John surgery. Luckily for New York, the injury to closer Jenrry Mejia may have put him on the disabled list, however it doesn’t appear to be any kind tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. Monday Mejia experienced pain and stiffness in his right elbow. He was sent back to New York on Tuesday morning to be examined by team doctors. Mejia was examined by David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Inflammation was […]

Mets place closer Jenrry Mejia on the disabled list

Thursday it was reported that New York Mets‘ lefty reliever Josh Edgin would at the very least start the season on the disabled list with a stretched elbow ligament. The decision on how to proceed was left up to Edgin, the lone left-hander in the Mets’ bullpen. Sunday it was announced that Edgin had decided to opt for Tommy John surgery instead of attempting to rehab his injured ligament, leaving the Mets without a left-hander in the bullpen. So what is next for the Mets? Do they make a trade? Dillon Gee is an excellent candidate. Do they wait to see […]

Will the Mets start the season with a fully right-handed ...

New York Mets’ starting pitcher Matt Harvey had Tommy John surgery in October of 2013 and he was far from what you might call a “happy camper” or even a remotely cooperative one about it. Initially he attempted rehabbing his torn ulnar collateral ligament but reluctantly opted for the procedure as it is, on the whole, much more effective. As soon as Harvey was out of surgery he was talking about returning at somepoint during the 2014 season. The Mets wanted Harvey to rehab at their Florida facility but Harvey argued into a compromise with Mets executives in which he […]
