Tuesday night the Oakland Athletics lost. They didn’t just lose to the Los Angeles Angels they got killed. The Angels won the game 14-1. It was even more evident that the A’s were having a bad night when their best pitcher ended up being first baseman Ike Davis. Your browser does not support iframes. UPDATE: March 23, 2015 8:40 am PT As I mention in the original text the Los Angeles Dodgers’ number three starter, Hyun-jin Ryu, was going to be missing his next spring start. Well, it turns out that he’ll now be missing more than that, in fact, he’ll be starting the season on the disabled list, according to manager Don Mattingly. Ryu’s throwing program has been completely shutdown and the 27-year-old left-hander is being taken back to Los Angeles to meet with team doctor Neal ElAttrache for an examination on Monday. The results of the examination will determine whether or not Ryu […]

Each Monday we will be bringing you MLB’s top hitting and pitching performances of the week. You can find them right here, every Monday for the remainder of the season and throughout the postseason. This week  in MLB brought us quite a few well-pitched games including three amazingly pitched complete games from Madison Bumgarner, Scott Feldman and surprisingly, Clay Buchholz.   Happy Sunday! It’s that time again, time for my column and today we are talking pitchers – who’d you start in a “win or go home” situation? Say it’s game 7 of the World Series and it’s your favorite team’s championship on the line. What current MLB pitcher would you want starting that game for your team? Would it be the guy with the best ERA? Best playoff record? Most wins? It’s a tough call, for sure. There are all kinds of variables in reality such as what team you are playing against, righty or lefty, the ballpark you […]

Most year’s MLB’s non-waiver trade deadline comes and goes without much fanfare. This year the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics made it a day to remember. Another Tigers and A’s postseason match would now be a dream. Blockbuster trades, like the one that sent Prince Fielder to the Texas Rangers and Ian Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers, just don’t happen that often. Another one happened on the fourth of July when Oakland’s general manager, Billy Beane, made this season’s first blockbuster trade by acquiring two of the trade market’s most coveted pitchers, Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel, from the […]
