MLB Trade Rumors

sonny gray, Oakland Athletics
The Houston Astros and the Oakland Athletics are currently in talks about A’s starter Sonny Gray. However, the Astros may also be looking to the Detroit Tigers for Justin Verlander.  With six of the top 100 prospects in baseball (according to MLBPipline.com) in the Astros organization, they look like a great match as trade partners with the Oakland Athletics. Then again, Athletics vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane has never been a fan of trading within the division. Plus, with the strides Gray has made since June (he’s put up a 3.02 ERA in his last nine starts), it […]

Oakland A’s trade talks with Houston Astros regarding Sonny Gray ...

Lucroy
Could Lucroy headed to Houston? The Milwaukee Brewers are rebuilding. They began cleaning house at last season’s non-waiver trade deadline and haven’t stopped this offseason. They’ve already shipped off quite of few of their veteran players, including first baseman Adam Lind and third baseman Luis Sardinas, for younger players and prospects. In fact, the ballclub completed their eighth trade of the offseason Saturday, trading last season’s starting shortstop, Jean Segura, and RHP Tyler Wagner to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for RHP Chase Anderson, third baseman Aaron Hill and shortstop prospect Isan Diaz. All of these trades have left many […]

In Lucroy’s case, Astros and Brewers would be perfect trade ...

scott kazmir, oakland Athletics, MLB Hot Stove 1
UPDATE: June 2, 2015 11:02 am PT Starter Scott Kazmir, who left his last start with “shoulder soreness,” threw a pain-free bullpen session on Sunday and is now scheduled to start on Friday when the A’s take on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. UPDATE: May 31, 2015 5:15 pm PT When Scott Kazmir was pulled from his last start after the third inning, it was a scary moment for the Oakland Athletics. Still, no structural damage was found after an MRI was performed so there was still hope that Kazmir, whose next day to start falls on Monday when […]

The San Francisco Giants are happy with their 2015 starting rotation. A rotation that will consist of World Series superstar Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain, veteran Tim Hudson, Jake Peavy and Tim Lincecum. According to ESPN’s Jim Bowden the Giants had spoken to James Shields about possibly retaining his services but had never had any interest in signing the other big-name free agent pitcher available, Max Scherzer. Giants are out on Shields, never in on Scherzer and still trying to work a deal on Zobrist according to sources — Jim Bowden (@JimBowden_ESPN) January 3, 2015 For more on this story including Sabean’s […]

Giants out on James Shields, now pursuing Ben Zobrist

Tuesday the Tampa Bay Rays signed free agent shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera to a one-year $8 million deal, pending a physical. With Yunel Escobar quite capable of handling the shortstop position, the Rays will most likely move Cabrera from shortstop to second base. Second base is often manned by Ben Zobrist, a guy former Rays’ manager Joe Maddon, called a “super utility man.” With Zobrist about to turn 34 and entering his last season before free agency, he’s suddenly become an even more valuable trade chip for the Rays. The question remains do they trade him now or in July? For […]

Rays sign Cabrera, so when will they trade Ben Zobrist?

It’s pretty obvious that the Josh Hamilton we see today is a different player than the Josh Hamilton we saw win an MVP award and make five straight All-Star appearances with the Texas Rangers. It’s also pretty obvious that Los Angeles Angels overpaid for the 33-year-old former superstar. Prior to moving to the Angels from the Rangers for a 5-year $125 million contract, Hamilton hit .305. He averaged 28 home runs and 101 RBI a season over his five seasons with the Rangers. Hamilton led the league in RBI in 2008, his first season as a Ranger having spent his […]

Have the Angels given up on Josh Hamilton?

UPDATE: November 28, 2014 11:00 am PT According to CBS Sports‘ Chicago Cubs Pitcher Pedro Strop who was involved in a serious car accident in the Dominican Republic on Thursday, has luckily escaped the crash with a minor injury, a cut on his left arm. It required stitches but Strop is obviously very lucky. Cubs update on Pedro Strop: Back home after getting stitches for cut in left arm from car crash in Dominican. “Doing fine.” — Paul Sullivan (@PWSullivan) November 28, 2014 The right-hander, 29 had a 2.21 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP and a 10.5 K/9 in 61 […]
