Bartolo Colon signs with Twins
Go forth and rejoice! Everybody’s favorite Big Sexy pitcher is back in the game.  After being designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on June 29, many people wondered if Bartolo Colon would ever play in the big leagues again and everyone was in mourning — especially me! I always used the hashtag #Team Bartolo during the 2013 season when he should have won the Cy Young at age 40 and ever since!!  The #Braves today designated RHP Bartolo Colón for assignment and selected the contract of LHP Rex Brothers from Triple-A @GwinnettBraves. — Atlanta Braves (@Braves) June 29, 2017 […]

ICYMI: Bartolo is BACK!

Cuddyer announces retirement Yep. It’s official. I’m super old. Not super old but super, HELLA old. Michael Cuddyer retired from baseball and I feel old. Why him? No real clue. Never been a fan, never not been a fan. I didn’t feel as old when Mariano Rivera retired or when I realized that both Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez were over 40 – ok, well sometimes I am better off in denial. Except at least A-Rod and Jeter are still have some years on me. I remember them coming up in the league and Cuddyer as well. Michael Cuddyer has another […]

Michael Cuddyer calls it a career at 36 years old

Billy Burns, Billy Burns highlights, rookie of the year, potential breakout players
I’m back online for a  few hours (Wednesday afternoon I will be officially back!!_ We are  LOVING the new house but living without cable or internet is completely insane! I have missed so much!! Ron Washington was named the new A’s third base coach, Sean Doolittle is back and Kendall Graveman is on the DL – and that’s just a small sample of one team! I can’t imagine all that I have missed in general baseball news! It’s terrible!  So back to this post. I’ve talked A LOT on my blog about why the Oakland Athletics’ lead-off hitter and center […]

Check out some of my favorite Billy Burns highlights (videos)

all-star teams
After losing out in the Final Vote for the 2015 All-Star Game both Troy Tulowitzki and Brian Dozier have made the National League  and the American League rosters, respectively.   Of course their finding spots on the rosters come at a cost to other teams. Saturday Miami Marlins’ All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon dislocated his left thumb during the seventh inning of the Marlins’ game against the Cincinnati Reds. He was sliding into head first into first base, going for an infield hit. This is why you should never slide headfirst into first base, almost every time I have seen […]

Dozier, Tulo make All-Star teams after all

Chris Sale faced Phil Hughes and the Minnesota Twins in his last start which was also his first start since coming off the disabled list, having fractured his foot during spring training. While the Hughes and the Twins are worthy opponents, Sale now faces his first big test of 2015. Saturday the left-hander will take on right-hander Anibal Sanchez and the 9-1 Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have the best record in baseball right now having barely hung on to beat the White Sox and starter Jeff Samardzija on Friday by a score of 2-1. Despite the close score, the Tigers […]

Sale to face first real challenge vs. Sanchez and Tigers

mlb newsworthy moments
Alright I admit it, I dig Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale as much as I dig Matt Harvey – well almost! It’s a close call between the two. It’s a good thing that they are in different leagues so I can predict Chris Sale as the AL Cy Young Award and Matt Harvey to beat out Clayton Kershaw for the National League Cy Young. So you can imagine that I was quite excited that Chris Sale was back in action Sunday after having fractured his right foot early in spring training, Without Sale the White Sox were 0-4. They […]

Chris Sale returns in top form, breathes new life into ...

The Detroit Tigers looked good in their season opener against the Minnesota Twins. They looked very good. Winning the game 4-0, the Tigers got 10 hits to the Twins five. J.D. Martinez and Alex Avila homered. Yoenis Cespedes went 2-4 with a double and a triple. The biggest story and mystery of the day was the Tigers’ starting pitcher David Price. Price held the Twins scoreless through 8.2 innings. He held them hitless through four innings until Kennys Vargas singled on a line drive to left field in the top of the fifth inning, but Price retired the next two […]

David Price: one out away from complete game shutout

Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana has been suspended by Major League Baseball for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. Santana’s 80-game suspension will begin with the Twins first game of the season on Monday, April 6. Santana reportedly tested positive for Stanozolol, a substance that is illegal under the Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Santana released a public statement saying he must have unknowningly taken the drugs sometime while he was in his home country and that this was as big of a surprise to him as it was to the Twins. In part of his statement Santana said, […]

Many people may be betting against Johan Santana making a comeback, I’m not one of them. I’m ready to give the left-hander a chance and so, apparently are the Toronto Blue Jays. Jon Heyman, an insider with CBS Sports who first reported that the Blue Jays were taking a chance on Santana, isn’t betting against him either. Johan santana has agreed to sign with blue jays. Santana is still only 34. Wouldn’t bet against him. — Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) February 26, 2015 It’s a low-risk signing for the Blue Jays and it’s not clear exactly what role Santana will play […]

Place your bets: Will Johan Santana make a successful comeback?

Johan Santana hasn’t pitched in the Majors since August 17, 2012, took his first step towards making a comeback on Tuesday in the Venezuelan Winter League. Santana pitched two perfect innings, facing just six batters and throwing only 17 pitches in his first winter league appearance. That’s a very, very good way to get started on the path back to Major League Baseball. Johan Santana is done today. 2.0 IP, 17 pitches, 0 H, no runs. Six batters faced — Marcos Grunfeld M. (@bvenezolano) January 14, 2015 Santana, 35, is a two-time Cy Young Award winner and has the distinction […]

Pending a physical it appears that Torii Hunter will finish his career where it began. He has agreed to a one-year $10.5 million contract with the Minnesota Twins. The 39-year-old was drafted by the Twins with the 20th pick in the first round of the 1993 draft. Hunter played with the Twins for 11 seasons, picking up seven Gold Glove Awards and making two All-Star appearances. He moved on signing with the Los Angeles Angels where he played for five seasons and most recently played two seasons with the Detroit Tigers. After leaving the Twins Hunter won two more Gold […]

Torii Hunter returns to his roots, signs with Twins

The Minnesota Twins FINALLY made the decision that shocked no one. Sure, Paul Molitor beat out Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo to become the new manager of the Twins, but that appeared to be there plan all along, at least within the last couple of weeks. He also got the job over two Twins’ minor league coaches Gene Glynn and Doug Mientkiewicz. On Monday the Twins made the official announcemet but are planning to wait to introduce their new manager until Tuesday at a 10 am CST. So congrats to the new skipper of the Twins, Mr. Paul Molitor, […]
