Kyle Schwarber

World Series Game Recaps
World Series Game Recaps but first a discussion on how to know who you are really rooting for! Well this may be a little mundane but what kind of baseball person/writer/fan would I be without keeping track of the World Series games, especially this World Series. It is historic.  Two teams, both with long World Series droughts, are fighting it out for the top spot in all of baseball.  I don’t know about you but I find it hard to not root for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs already broke a curse simply making it to the Fall Classic and […]

World Series Game Recaps & the conundrum of who to ...

Schwarber
The Chicago Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber started off his sophomore season the way no player wants to start any season. In the third game of the season at the Arizona Diamondback’s Chase Field, Schwarber tore his ACL and LCL – both imperative ligaments in the knee – in an outfield collision with centerfielder Dexter Fowler. The injury caused him to miss the remainder of the regular season and thus far, the Cubs’ entire playoff run to the World Series. You can watch the injury as it happened back in April below: Yes, it most certainly wasn’t pretty and it was a huge […]

learned
With one week of spring training in the books, here are the top three things we learned It’s’ the beginning of a new season. Spring Training began as pitchers and catchers reported late last week and position players started to arrive early on this week.  Of course there are going to be at least a few interesting situations that will go down in this first week or two of Spring Training. It happens every year beginning with almost every player declaring “I’m in the best shape of my life” to there being so many new faces on some of the […]

3 fun lessons we learned during the first week of ...

Arrieta
The National League wild card game  was certainly far from boring. Chicago Cubs’ starter Jake Arrieta continued his phenomenal run since the beginning of the second half of the regular season, throwing yet another complete game four hit shutout while striking out 11 Pittsburgh Pirates batters. He did not even allow a walk. I know that a player’s postseason numbers do not count towards the Cy Young voting but if it did, Arrieta should be your guy Arrieta wasn’t the only member of the Cubs who shined. Rookie Kyle Schwarber was responsible for three of the Cubs’ four runs and Dexter […]

Arrieta does it again, Cubs win the NL Wild Card

Kyle Schwarber
It probably couldn’t have gotten better for the Chicago Cubs’ rookie catcher Kyle Schwarber  (one tiny detail). Let me set the stage a little just because this story is seriously cool.  Cincinnati, Ohio – Schwarber grew up a BIG Cincinnati Reds’ fans in Middletown, Ohio, not far from the city or the ballpark. Schwarber, just 22, was born on March 5, 1993. He grew up actually looking up to a few of the Reds, who were probably the age he is now when he was just aspiring to be them, that he played against Tuesday night. He of course knew […]

Kyle Schwarber is … well, um …. Awesome!

Kyle Schwarber, Cubs
Kyle Schwarber makes a HUGE impression in big league debut There have been some great debuts of new rookies in the league in recent weeks and there will be more to come soon. However the next top prospect called up will have a tough time beating the MLB debut of the Chicago Cubs’ latest call-up Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber will only be with the club this week, serving as the DH, as they make their way to American League parks for interleague play. Normally a catcher by trade Schwarber, who was called up from Double-A only a year after being drafted […]
