Angels should have free agent Chris Davis in their sights

Angels need free agent Chris Davis most The Los Angeles Angels should really sign former Baltimore Oriole and free-agent Chris Davis. Actually, they need to sign Davis. They aren’t the favorites or even on ESPN’s David Schoenfield’s list of teams interested in Davis that came out on Sunday, but Davis could help fill every hole the Angels have–and there are a few. He’d be a huge help to any team because of his power, and he has been linked to a number of them. The New York Yankees could use some power. Even though Alex Rodriguez did a very nice job for them last […]

2015 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners

2015 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners (plus my thoughts on them!) 2

The 2015 Rawlings Gold Glove Award recipients were revealed today on ESPN. Personally there are a few I don’t agree with – as you all know who I’m going to mention first – Of course Cespedes and it’s mainly because I don’t think he’s a good defender. Those two incredible (and they were) throws from left field in Anaheim in 2014 were made because he missed making the play in the first place. Those throws would not have been needed had he fielded the ball cleanly to begin with. And while I know the World Series doesn’t count – there […]

2015 postseason holds no hope for Angels

With a 6-5 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Angels now find themselves four games back in the American League West behind the first-place Texas Rangers. They find themselves in a much better position when it comes to the race for the second AL wild card spot. After winning Wednesday afternoon, the Angels are only one and a half games behind the Astros the race for the AL wild card. The Minnesota Twins are also in the mix, tied with Los Angeles, so anything can still happen. Any one of those three teams could end up in the postseason. […]

Is the Angels’ Championship window closing? 1

Every team has had a window to win a World Series Championship at some point during their history. By window, I mean having the right collection of great players at the right time. For the most part, a team needs a superstar along with a good collection of supporting players, a solid pitching staff and a bullpen that won’t blow the game in the late innings. This is also most often combined with having a strong farm system in case of an emergency, and young players to bring up to replace aging ones. Windows can stay open for a few […]

Top 10: Right fielders in baseball

Baseball Hot Corner continues it’s feature of looking at the top ten players at each position and it’s my turn to bring you my list of the top right fielders in the game today. Most of this list will be based strictly on the player’s 2014 statistics. I am not excluding players who had a rough 2014 due to injuries, which is why some of their 2013 finishes and prior accomplishments may come into play. I used a similar stance with rookies who hadn’t played many games but showed immense potential. Another difficult part in ranking right fielders is that […]
