Should Kyle Schwarber really be the Cubs’ DH in the World Series?

The Chicago Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber started off his sophomore season the way no player wants to start any season. In the third game of the season at the Arizona Diamondback’s Chase Field, Schwarber tore his ACL and LCL – both imperative ligaments in the knee – in an outfield collision with centerfielder Dexter Fowler. The injury caused him to miss the remainder of the regular season and thus far, the Cubs’ entire playoff run to the World Series. You can watch the injury as it happened back in April below: Yes, it most certainly wasn’t pretty and it was a huge […]

Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber has best MLB debut of season

Kyle Schwarber makes a HUGE impression in big league debut There have been some great debuts of new rookies in the league in recent weeks and there will be more to come soon. However the next top prospect called up will have a tough time beating the MLB debut of the Chicago Cubs’ latest call-up Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber will only be with the club this week, serving as the DH, as they make their way to American League parks for interleague play. Normally a catcher by trade Schwarber, who was called up from Double-A only a year after being drafted […]

With starter  Dillon Gee on the disabled list the New York Mets, the Chicago Cubs and baseball fans everywhere will get to see the Major League debut of 22-year-old starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard. Many expected the right-handed phenom to be in the Mets’ rotation in 2014, after he made quite an impression in the Grapefruit League two spring trainings ago. The Mets however made the decision to get the young right-hander a little more seasoned and have kept him at Triple-A Las Vegas, until now. Syndergaard was ranked baseball’s 11th top prospect going into the 2015 season, he was ranked […]

Theo Epstein: Chicago Cubs plan to contend in 2015 1

Chicago Cubs’ general manager and president of baseball operations Theo Epstein addressed the a large group of the club’s season ticket holders on Friday at the Oriental Theater in Chicago. “Our goal in 2015 is to win the National League Central,” said Epstein. “It felt good to say that.” It would feel good to say that for the GM of a club that finishes last in the N.L. Central on a fairly regular basis, at least in recent years. It would also feel good to th players, fans, everyone surrounding the team, in fact, because they are all looking for […]

Top MLB performances of the week: 3 complete games plus some Soler power

Each Monday we will be bringing you MLB’s top hitting and pitching performances of the week. You can find them right here, every Monday for the remainder of the season and throughout the postseason. This week  in MLB brought us quite a few well-pitched games including three amazingly pitched complete games from Madison Bumgarner, Scott Feldman and surprisingly, Clay Buchholz. As you can imagine with so many great pitching performances there was only a single player to eclipse three RBI, the Cardinals Matt Holliday. However, rookie call up Jorge Soler of the Chicago Cubs came to impress and succeeded in […]

Cubs’ call-ups offer glimpse of team’s bright future 1

It’s been 115 seasons since the Cubs won the World Series. Some say it’s a curse. It doesn’t really matter though anymore. It appears that what they are doing now is working fine. Actually make that better than fine. Jorge Soler, who joined the Cubs on Wednesday and hit a three run homer in his first big league at-bat, was not the first of a handful of players who have been called up and given a chance to play by the Cubs. A few other key names include Javier Baez,Arismendy Alcantara and Kyle Hendricks. The list also will include Kris […]
