Jacob deGrom

Keuchel and Kazmir
When you think of the best front of the rotation starters in baseball, who comes to mind? If you’ve watched baseball at all within the last five years, then the first pair of pitchers your mind should go to should be the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starters Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.  They are undoubtedly the best one-two punch in baseball. It’s not even worth questioning. However, there are other good combinations out there such as the New York Mets’ Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom. While they may not involve a three-time Cy Young Award winner who is also the reigning […]

How do Astros’ Keuchel and Kazmir compare to competition?

Home Run Derby & All-Star Game 2
I’m a little late on reporting about the All-Star game, I know. I’ve been a little busy with work at FanRag Sports and Today’s Knuckleball but here’s a synopis of the Home Run Derby & All-Star Game highlights. Hometown Home Run Derby The Annual Home Run Derby’s rules have changed over the years but they were never anything near what we saw tonight in Cincinnati. The rules were changed earlier in the season but some amendments were made just prior to tonight’s event. Originally the players were going to get five minutes on the clock to hit as many home […]

Dillon Gee
Dillon Gee frustrated by Mets’ move New York Mets’ manager Terry Collins apologized to Dillon Gee for the news he was about to give him. Gee, one of the Mets’ longest tenured players was being demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen. The Mets were going to try and use a six-man rotation that included Gee, to shave off the number of innings pitcher like Matt Harvey, who is coming off of Tommy John surgery, and Jacob deGrom, who is just in his sophomore season, would pitch over the course of the season.  Why they changed their minds is […]

Noah Syndergaard
With starter  Dillon Gee on the disabled list the New York Mets, the Chicago Cubs and baseball fans everywhere will get to see the Major League debut of 22-year-old starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard. Many expected the right-handed phenom to be in the Mets’ rotation in 2014, after he made quite an impression in the Grapefruit League two spring trainings ago. The Mets however made the decision to get the young right-hander a little more seasoned and have kept him at Triple-A Las Vegas, until now. Syndergaard was ranked baseball’s 11th top prospect going into the 2015 season, he was ranked […]

bartolo colon
Update: September 6, 2015 5:15 am PT Originally this little blurb was written in April (as you’ll see below) but this season, Bartolo Colon has become even more likable around the Major Leagues and with both leagues’ fans. Whether it’s that he’s tied his career high in RBI (3) or his career-high seven hits this season or the fact that he is still getting guys out using basically just a fastball – you can’t deny that Colon is fun to watch and very likable. The 42-year-old right-hander made New York Mets history Saturday as he became the oldest pitcher from […]

Why it’s so easy to be a fan of Bartolo ...

I had just written about the possibility of the New York Mets needing to keep and not trade starting pitcher Dillon Gee, even though he had been moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen. I mentioned that there may be an issue with starter Zack Wheeler. Originally picked for the starting rotation were Wheeler, Jon Niese, Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and Bartolo Colon. Now it appears that Gee will be needed in place of Wheeler. Wheeler, who complained of elbow soreness last week, recently underwent an MRI. He’d had two clean MRI’s over the offseason, after some soreness last season, […]

Tommy John surgery likely for Mets’ Zack Wheeler

New York Mets’ right-handed start Jacob deGrom has been having a phenomenal rookie season. He may even be looking at recieving the National League rookie of the year award by the season’s end.
