Hot Stove season has now officially begun The Hot Stove season has been moving hella fast this year, or at  least it seems that way to me. Teams area always making big deals and signings during this part of the baseball season (yes, pretty much year-round there is some kind of “baseball season” and this is the “Hot Stove” season).  Usually most of them seem to come after the Winter Meetings that take place in early December, but this season has really taken off since last week’s GM Meetings in Florida. Here’s just what happened on Friday, which takes the […]

Hot Stove: ICYMI on Friday, because it was crazy

Brett Anderson, Hot stove 2
Stop me if you’ve heard this story before – left-handed starter Brett Anderson, now playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is …. wait for it … INJURED! “No!” you say? Oh yes, and not for the first, second, third or even fourth time in his career. Anderson left the Dodger’s game against the Atlanta Braves after two and two thirds innings with irritation in his left Achilles tendon. He allowed three runs on five hits prior to giving way to reliever Chin-hui Tsao. A rookie in 2009, with what seemed like limitless potential, Anderson pitched a full season for the Oakland […]

Brett Anderson’s injury-prone career continues with Dodgers

UPDATE: March 23, 2015 8:40 am PT As I mention in the original text the Los Angeles Dodgers’ number three starter, Hyun-jin Ryu, was going to be missing his next spring start. Well, it turns out that he’ll now be missing more than that, in fact, he’ll be starting the season on the disabled list, according to manager Don Mattingly. Ryu’s throwing program has been completely shutdown and the 27-year-old left-hander is being taken back to Los Angeles to meet with team doctor Neal ElAttrache for an examination on Monday. The results of the examination will determine whether or not Ryu […]

UPDATE: Dodgers’ lack of pitching depth made more apparent with ...

Monday the Los Angeles Dodgers signed left-handed starter Brett Anderson to add to their rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-jin Ryu and Brandon McCarthy. I’ve had quite a bit of experience watching Anderson and I have to say that this is a HUGE risk on the Dodgers part. Some say that signing McCarthy was risky because of his background with injuries as well as his numbers after leaving the Oakland Athletics for the Arizona Diamondbacks. McCarthy had a great half of the season for the New York Yankees, going 7-5 in 14 starts and posting an ERA of 2.89. […]
