Rule 5 draft picks finding success in the West
Despite their teams’ very different records this season, two of the four Rule-5 draft picks that landed in the American League West have been assets to their teams.
The Oakland Athletics may have struggled this season, mightily, having already lost 76 games on the year, but Rule-5 draft pick Mark Canha has not been part of the problem. Canha has continually improved throughout the season. On the other end of the standings, the Texas Rangers started the season slowly but their speedy Rule-5 draft pick Delino DeShields did not. He and the Rangers are now legitimate candidates to make the postseason.
