If you watched the 2014 Major League Baseball Playoffs, you may remember a young starting pitcher named Yordano Ventura. He started two games for the Kansas City Royals in the World Series as 23-year-old rookie going 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA.
Pretty impressive numbers being so young and on baseball’s biggest stage. So the Royals decided to be proactive, they have a history of making team-friendly deals done early, to try and extend Ventura’s contract.
That’s exactly what they did Saturday morning by signing the right-handed flame-thrower to a five-year contract extension that includes two club options.
