Victorino is victorious, win’s Boston’s outfield battle

It appears that the battle for the last spot in the Boston Red Sox outfield is finally over. Manager John Farrell basically (but unofficially) told reporters on Wednesday that Shane Victorino will start in right field for the Red Sox.

This means that Cuban rookie Rusney Castillo will start the season in Triple-A. The Red Sox also had Jackie Bradley Jr. in the running (sort of) for the right field job but he’ll likely start the season on the bench with Victornio in right and Hanley Ramirez, who is starting his very first season in left field after having been a primarily a shortstop his entire 10-year career, in left.

Rookie Mookie Betts solidified his spot in centerfield by having an amazing spring, batting .467 and being a force in the field.
