Well I started this post the first time the Rally Possum made his Major League Baseball debut but somehow it got put by the wayside, probably due to all the attention the Rally Possum was getting everywhere else but I will get to that in a minute.
Let’s start at the beginning. According to starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija he’s made some appearances during practice so I guess he was just waiting until he felt ready to come up to the Show!
“He’s been out here before when we’re warming up,” Samardzija said. “We’re going to have to give him a name or a jersey. We’ll keep feeding him, and as long as he keeps giving us enough wins, we’ll be all right.”
Last Monday the Rally Possum got the call. He appeared during the tenth inning at the Coliseum just as Derek Norris hit the game winning walk-off single and thus the #RallyPossum was born.

Since then he’s (she?) been spotted in Oakland a couple more times and each time the A’s have emerged from the game victorious. In fact the only games the A’s lost this past week were during the day when, of course, the Rally Possums get their beauty sleep. So as you can imagine the Rally Possum has taken on a life of it’s own.
It began with the A’s fans, no wait. It was the national news he made that first night but the story did not stop there. The next game there were Rally Possum signs, Rally Possum tweets and pics were all over the place! He even has not one but two Twitter accounts! My own tweet was featured in an article in S.F Gate (of course it was one I knowingly left a typo in bc I was using my phone but still! It was cool! lol). This is the one they used in an article by Al Saracevic called Rally Possum Blossoms in Oakland:

See the typo? LMAO! Anyway, you can find more fun Rally Possum info by searching for “#Rally Possum” on Twitter or checking out that article at SF Gate! (and articles all across the nation)! Here are a few of my faves from that Monday night! People get creative real quickly these days!

And I leave you with yet another video of the Rally Possum this time appearing at another A’s win vs. the Minnesota Twins! Who doesn’t LOVE a RALLY POSSUM?!?!?!

Oh yeah one more thing! The Rally Possum has been named by a fan after former A’s player Olmedo Saenz (the players/organization have not yet announced or endorsed any name) but his original twitter account is Olmedo O. Possum @RallyPossum … give the little guy (who is @ColiseumSewage‘s pet apparently) a follow!!! Glad I got to say a little something about Oakland’s Rally Possum. It is one of those fun things I know I will want to remember in ten years!
LET’S GO OAKLAND!!! RALLY POSSUM!!!
