Last season Grant Balfour was an All-Star closer for the Oakland Athletics who had his own entrance themed action by the crowd termed “The Rage” or “The Balfour Rage.” It was literally all the rage in Oakland with the entire stadium going nuts as he made his entrance. Balfour accumulated 38 saves in 42 opportunities last season for the A’s with a 2.59 ERA. He broke Oakland’s consecutive saves record that was formerly held by Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley.  So what happened?

I can’t answer that question but this season he is already getting booed by the fans of his former and now current team, the Tampa Bay Rays. Balfour played for the Rays for four season between 2007-2010 before signing with Oakland. He re-signed with Tampa Bay after failing a physical and losing his contract with the Baltimore Orioles. So maybe his health is the issue? Balfour denies that anything is wrong with him so again, that leaves us with another unanswered question.
